Introduction
Fierce Delegation® introduces a simple methodology to clarify roles, end micromanagement and put people on a clear path of professional development. This conversation helps leaders to promote responsibility taking and effective priority setting in their teams. For team members, it’s a great way to avoid the feeling of micro-management, and to argue for more authority and interesting tasks. For leaders, it creates space to focus on higher tasks and more strategic issues.
Benefits
Fierce Delegation® is a two-way conversation where managers and contributors have a conversation to clarify individual talent, levels of autonomy can be developed, and personal development opportunities.
- Ensure individuals know where they have authority to make decisions and act
- Provide a framework for professional development
- Deepen accountability through clarifying expectations
- Build trust through transparency and open communication
- Give direct reports the opportunity to take on more tasks
‘Fierce Conversations has proven to be one of the most practical, thought provoking and relevant programs we offer to our associates today.’ – Lou St. Ville, Crate & Barrel
Topics
This workshop re-examines the meaning of delegation, making clear its rationale and principles of best practice. Participants are asked to examine their roles and working lives, and identify where they are doing the right and the wrong things. The decision-tree model is introduced as a basis for the Fierce Delegation® conversation which participants can use to align roles and levels of accountability in their teams.
